The Archaeology Guild is a professional organisation dedicated to the excavation and study of ruins. It has chapters operating within Cyrodiil and many of the Imperial territories. The express purpose of the Guild varies from region to region; for example, most archaeologists in Cyrodiil study Ayleid ruins, while those in Morrowind analyse the ruins of the Dwemer. Unlike the Mages and Fighters Guilds, the Archaeology Guild does not have the luxury of an Imperial charter, surviving only on the money it manages to generate. However, it is recognised by the Empire and exists fully within the boundaries of law.

After finding a note in Dwemer script on the body of a slain necromancer in Fanacasecul, Tarvyn believes the Archaeology Guild would be their best chance to decrypt it.
